Lesson description
In this year 1 numeracy lesson the class look at fractions of shapes. The focus of this session is on halves and quarters and how to write these fractions. The lesson starts with a picnic where children share out food, then moves into the classroom to discuss what fractions look like. This is followed by a carousel of activities, including recording of fractions, role play and ICT activities to reinforce the learning.
